Biography: Joe Lieberman was a United States politician who served as Democratic Senator from Connecticut. Lieberman's most notable accomplishments include his vice-presidential candidacy in the 2000 election and his role in the repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy on homosexuality in the military.

After graduating from Yale University and Yale Law School, Lieberman began his political career in the Connecticut Senate in 1970. He served as Connecticut's Attorney General from 1983 to 1989. In 1988, he was elected to the U.S. Senate, where he would serve four terms.

During his Senate tenure, Lieberman was involved in several key pieces of legislation and served on various committees. He introduced the Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Act of 2010 and played a significant role in the Affordable Care Act debate.

In the 2000 election, Lieberman was the Democratic candidate for Vice President alongside Al Gore, making him the first Jewish candidate on a major party's national ticket. After a controversial election result, he sought the Democratic nomination for president in 2004 but did not succeed.

Following a loss in the Democratic primary in 2006, Lieberman won re-election as an independent. He endorsed Republican John McCain for president in 2008.

After retiring from the Senate in 2013, Lieberman worked as senior counsel at a law firm and held positions in several think tanks. He supported various presidential candidates, including Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden.
