Biography: Jonathan Pryce was a successful stage actor before he began an equally successful film career. After studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art he acted in local productions before gaining more national roles.

In 1977 he appeared in Trevor Griffiths play "Comedians" and won a Tony award when the play was transferred to Broadway. His breakthrough film role came in 1985 in Terry Gilliam's critically acclaimed "Brazil". He continued to appear in both stage and screen productions, including such musicals as "Miss Saigon" on stage for which he won another Tony, as well as in Andrew Lloyd Weber's "Evita" alongside Madonna (1996).

Pryce has had prominent roles in several film franchises including as a Bond villain in "Tomorrow Never Dies" with Pierce Brosnan and has appeared in three of the Pirates of the Caribbean films with Johnny Depp and Keira Knightly.

More recently he has appeared in the TV series "The Game of Thrones" and in the Netflix film "The Two Popes" (2019) opposite Anthony Hopkins. He was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in 2020.
