Biography: Born in New Zealand, Keith Urban grew up in Australia where he released his first solo album in 1991. A move to America followed a year later where Urban has built a hugely successful career as a singer-songwriter and music producer. Primarily known as a country music artist, Urban is also recognized for the strong pop and rock elements to his music.

Based in Nashville, Urban briefly formed a band The Ranch and worked as a session musician for such artists as Garth Brooks. In 1999 he released his first self-titled solo album in the US which included the No. 1 Billboard Country hit "But for the Grace of God".

Urban has on to release a number of successful albums including the crossover album "Defying Gravity" (2009), which went to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

In 2013 Urban joined the cast of the reality TV show "American Idol" as a judge. Urban has been widely recognized in the industry, winning a number of Grammy awards and was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2012.

Urban is also known for his marriage to fellow Australian, actress Nicole Kidman and for his struggle with substance and alcohol abuse.
