Profession: Singer-Songwriter and Musician
Biography: Dave Grohl was only 17 when joined the punk rock band Scream, having lied about his age. After Scream broke up in 1990, Grohl joined guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic as drummer in their band, Nirvana, and first appeared on the band's second album, the worldwide hit "Nevermind" in 1991. Their style of alternative rock spearheaded a new musical style and their single "Smells like Teen Spirit" became an anthem for Generation X.
Nirvana toured and released a second album In Utero (1993) before Kurt Cobain's suicide in 1994.
Grohl went on to form the successful rock band Foo Fighters initially as a one-man project playing and writing all the material himself. He then recruited other band members. Foo Fighters has continued to perform and record, releasing a greatest hits album in 2009.
Grohl has also performed with Them Crooked Vultures and Queens of the Stone Age.
