Biography: Before succeeding Boris Johnson as British Prime Minister in September 2022 and as head of the Conservative Party, Lis Truss served as Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs for a year. She was originally elected to the British parliament in 2010 as the MP for south west Norfolk.

Two days after her appointment as Prime Minister, the British monarch Queen Elizabeth II died after a seventy-year reign and Truss led the country through a state funeral.
