Biography: Mark Rutte is a Dutch politician who has been Prime Minister of the Netherlands since 2010. He has also been Leader of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) since 2006.

Despite his ambitions to be a concert pianist, Rutte studied history at Leiden University. He then worked for several years as a human resources manager at Unilever before entering politics.

He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2002, and became Parliamentary Leader of the VVD in 2006. In 2010, he was appointed Prime Minister of the Netherlands.

Rutte's first term was marked by the global financial crisis, and he implemented a series of austerity measures in order to reduce the Dutch government's budget deficit.

In 2012, Rutte was re-elected as Prime Minister, and his second term was dominated by the issue of immigration.
