Biography: A famous thinker of the Enlightenment period and a significant figure during the French Revolution. He was elected secretary to the French Academy of Sciences and worked at the Inspector General of the Mint. In his writing he advocated for a general education system and for rights for all, especially women. He is also remembered for the Condorcet election method.
When the revolution broke out he represented Paris in the legislative and later took part in the National Convention for which he drafted a new constitution on behalf of the Girondin faction. The rise of the more radical Jacobins led to the warrant for his arrest and eventual death in prison after months of hiding.
