Biography: Mary Quant is an English fashion icon, synonymous with the swinging 1960s. She lead the youth quake in fashion in London, liberating women from the stuffy, more formal clothing that was usually their only option up until then.

A graduate of the design school Saint Martins, she opened her first shop, called Bazaar in London's Chelsea neighborhood in 1955. Originally just sourcing clothes. she started designing them herself, frustrated at the lack of options, particularly for young women. Today she is credited with, if not inventing, the mini skirt as modelled by Twiggy, as well as other playful colourful styles in revolutionary materials.

Two further shops followed as well as lucrative marketing deals, and a skincare and make-up line. In 2019 the London's V&A Museum held a major exhibition of her work.
