Biography:A prominent figure in the Civil Rights movement in America, Simone was also a noted jazz and soul singer. Her famous recording include versions of "I Loves You, Porgy," "My Baby Just Cares for Me" and her own civil rights anthem "Mississippi Goddam".
Angered by racism in America, she permanently left the country in 1973.
