Elton has sold more than 300 million records, making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world; has had more than 50 Top 40 hits, including 58 Billboard Top 40 singles; and has received 6 Grammy Awards, 5 Brit Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Tony Award, and an Emmy Award.

Elton's musical partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin, initiated in 1967, has been one of the most enduring and successful collaborations in music history. Together, they produced hits like Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer, and Candle in the Wind, the latter of which, re-recorded in 1997 as a tribute to Princess Diana, became the then best-selling single in the history of UK and US singles charts.
