Biography: Paul Touvier was a French Nazi collaborator who became the first person in France to be convicted of crimes against humanity. He joined the French Army in 1935, and later joined the Milice, a paramilitary group of the Vichy regime.

In 1944, Touvier was assigned by the Milice to find and execute seven Jewish hostages who had been captured by the Gestapo. Touvier found and shot the hostages, but was later arrested and charged with murder and complicity in crimes against humanity.

Touvier was convicted of crimes against humanity in 1994 and sentenced to life in prison, where he died in 1996.
