Biography: Rajendra Prasad is one of India's most prominent political figures, as well as its first President. He was born on December 3, 1884, in a small village in Bihar. He was an avid student, and earned a Master's degree in Law from the University of Calcutta in 1907.

Prasad was a passionate advocate of Indian independence. He was an active member of the Indian National Congress and was involved in the Non-Cooperation Movement of 1920-22. He also served as Congress President in 1934 and 1939.

Prasad was part of the Constituent Assembly responsible for drafting India's 1947 Constitution. He was elected President of the Republic of India in 1950 and held the post until 1962. Even after leaving office, he was a vocal proponent of democracy and national integration, and played a major role in the Indian freedom struggle.
