Biography: Ray Stevens is an American country and pop singer-songwriter. He is known for his comedic novelty songs such as "The Streak" and "Gitarzan," and his serious country hits such as "Everything Is Beautiful" and "Misty."

Stevens began playing piano at an early age, and by his teens he was playing in rock and roll bands in Georgia. He soon began writing his own songs, and after moving to Nashville in the 1960s, he signed with Mercury Records.

Stevens had his first major hit in 1969 with "Ahab the Arab," which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He continued to chart throughout the 1970s and 1980s with both serious and comedic songs. In 1980, he won a Grammy Award for his country ballad "Everything Is Beautiful."

Stevens continues to tour and perform today. In addition to his musical career, he has also appeared in several films and television shows, including his own reality TV show, Ray Stevens' Nashville.
