Biography: Ron Guidry is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played 14 seasons in MLB, all for the New York Yankees (1975-88).
He was a member of World Series-winning Yankees teams in 1977 and 1978 and won the American League Cy Young Award in 1978 with a 25-3 record.
Guidry also won 5 Gold Glove Awards and appeared in 4 All-Star games. He also served as captain of the Yankees 1986-88 and was pitching coach in 2006-07.
He finished his career with a 170–91 win-loss record with an earned run average of 3.29 with 1,778 strikeouts.
