Biography:Rube Marquard was an American baseball pitcher and member of the Baseball Hall of Fame since 1971, best known for his time with the New York Giants.
Marquard was infamous for his early showings after being bought for a record $11,000. Between 1911 and 1913, however, he won 23 games or more each season and led the league for strikeouts.
When Marquard retired from major-league baseball in 1925, he left with a record 1,593 strikeouts which put him third-place for left-handed pitchers.
