Biography: A Lemhi Shoshone woman, Sacagawea accompanied the Lewis and Clark Expedition during their exploration of the Western United States.

With the expedition, she traveled thousands of miles from North Dakota to the Pacific Ocean between 1804 and 1806.

In 1977, she was posthumously inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame, in Fort Worth, Texas.
