Biography: Sebastian Kurz is an Austrian politician who has served as Chancellor of Austria since January 2020. He is the youngest person to hold the office, at the age of 33. Kurz is leader of the conservative Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and has been a Member of the Austrian Parliament since 2013.
Kurz was born in Vienna in 1986 and studied law at the University of Vienna. After graduating, he held several positions in the Austrian government, including Secretary of State for Integration from 2011 to 2013. In 2017, he became the leader of the ÖVP and formed a coalition government with the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ).
In 2019, Kurz won a snap election and formed a new coalition government with the Green Party. Since taking office, he has worked to strengthen the economy, reduce immigration, and combat climate change. He has also been a vocal proponent of EU enlargement and the European single market.
