Biography: Steve Carell became a household name for his role as regional manager Michael Scott in the US version of the mockumentary "The Office" (2005-2013). Carell won a Golden Globe award and received six Emmy nominations for the part.

While working on the "The Office" Carell also became a major film star after the release of "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" (2005), which Carell conceived and wrote with director Judd Apatow as well as starring in.

Carell's initial films focused on his comedic talents; he appeared in "Little Miss Sunshine" (2006), "Get Smart" with Anne Hathaway and "Date Night" (2010) with Tina Fey. He was also the voice of Gru in the animated "Despicable Me" films.

Later Carell took on more dramatic roles; he was nominated for a Golden Globe and received his first Academy Award nomination for true crime film "Foxcatcher" (2014). Other prominent dramatic roles followed including "The Big Short" (2015) alongside Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, and Brad Pitt, and "Vice" about the life of US Vice President Dick Cheney where Carell portrayed Donald Rumsfeld.

Carell returned to television with "The Morning Show on Apple TV+ opposite Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. He is also the one of the creators of Netflix comedy "Space Force", which he also stars in.
