Biography: Best known for writing the "Millennium trilogy" of crime novels, which were published posthumously after his death from a heart attack at age 50. The first in the series "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" was immediately successful, and translated into English.

Before his death Larsson worked as an investigate left-wing journalist, focusing on extreme right wing and racist organisations in Sweden.

The books were later made into films in Swedish starring Michael Nyqvist and Noomi Rapace, with an English language film of the first novel made starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, directed by David Fincher.
