Biography: Waylon Jennings was an American musician who pioneered the outlaw movement in country music. He released several major albums: Lonesome, On'ry and Mean (1973), Honky Tonk Heroes (1973), Dreaming My Dreams (1974), and Are You Ready for the Country (1976).

Jennings' career began in earnest when, in 1958, Buddy Holly hired him as a bass player. He was due to fly on the 1959 flight which crash killed Buddy Holly, J.P. Richardson, and Ritchie Valens but gave up his seat.

Outlaw country was a movement in country music that Jennings drove during the 1970s, including the release of country music's first platinum album: Wanted! The Outlaws (1976), which brought together Jennings with Willie Nelson, Tompall Glaser, and Jessi Colter.
