  • 1816-07-19 Survivors of French frigate Medusa rescued off Senegal after 17 days
  • 1857-07-18 Louis Faidherbe, French governor of Senegal, arrives to relieve French forces at Kayes, effectively ending El Hajj Umar Tall's war against the French
  • 1883-04-12 French troops under lt-colonel Borgnis-Desbordes occupy Bamako Senegal
  • 1935-06-30 The Senegalese Socialist Party holds its first congress
  • 1935-11-24 The Senegalese Socialist Party holds its second congress.

1948-10-27 Léopold Sédar Senghor founds the Senegalese Democratic Bloc (BDS).
