Biography: Amy Poehler's career began in sketch comedy, which she studied in college. She become an early member of the influential improv and sketch group The Upright Citizens Brigade in Chicago. They landed a comedy series on Comedy Central for three years from 1998 and moved to New York. From 2001 Poehler featured on "Saturday Night Live", which she also wrote for. From 2003 she co-hosted the Weekend Update with friend and co-star Tina Fey.
Poehler's possibly most famous role came as Leslie Knope, the star of "Parks and Recreation" alongside a cast that included Aziz Ansari, Rashida Jones, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Nick Offerman and Rob Lowe. The TV sitcom ran for eight seasons till 2015 and won Poehler numerous awards including an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a Peabody award.
Poehler's successful film roles include the voice of Joy in Pixar's computer-animated "Inside Out" (2015), Mean Girls (2004) and "Baby Mama" both with Tina Fey.
