Where Andrew Cuomo was the 56th individual to serve in this position, his father Mario Cuomo had been the 52nd serving from 1983 to 1994. His brother, Chris Cuomo, was also a long-time news anchor with CNN.

Cuomo resigned as governor in 2021 amidst a barrage of allegations concerning sexual misconduct. While Cuomo consistently denied the allegations, an investigation ordered by New York Attorney General Letitia James found that he had harassed a number of women during his tenure.
