After finding life as lawyer unrewarding, Hochul turned to politics. Prior to her turn in the statehouse, she served on the county level and had one term in US House of Representatives (2011-13). She was elected as lieutenant governor in 2014, taking office 2015 with then Governor Cuomo Cuomo resigned under a cloud of sexual harassment allegations in August of 2021.
