Biography: Arthur II was a Duke of Brittany and reigned from 1305 until his death in 1312. During this time, he dealt with conflicts and put in place administrative innovations in Brittany. He was the first to call the Estate of Brittany, which he did in 1309.

Arthur succeeded his father, John II, as Duke of Brittany in 1305, starting his reign. His brother John became Earl of Richmond. As Duke, Arthur maintained Brittany's independence from the French crown and reorganized the duchy into eight regions.

Arthur II had two marriages, first to Marie, Viscountess of Limoges, and then to Yolande of Dreux. He fathered several children, including his successor, John III, Duke of Brittany, and John of Montfort. Arthur died in 1312, and he was buried in Vannes. His tomb was damaged during the French Revolution but later repaired.
