Biography: Axl Rose founded the band Guns N' Roses in 1985 with Tracii Guns in Los Angeles. The band was made up of former bandmates and eventually included lead guitarist Slash, guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Steven Adler.

In 1987 the band releases their debut album "Appetite for Destruction" which went on to become the best-selling album in the US of all time, selling over 18 million copies. It produced such hits as "Welcome to the Jungle", "Paradise City" and "Sweet Child o' Mine".

In 1991 the group began the two-and-half-year "Use Your Illusion" tour. The tour was a success though controversial for the riots it incited, and the behaviour of various bandmates. Rose himself was notorious for his lateness on stage.

The albums "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" were released also in 1991 and debuted at No. 1 and No. 2 on the Billboard chart, a first. Rose's relationships with his bandmates soured and after acquiring the sole ownership of the Guns N' Roses name he went into a professional hiatus from 1993 to 2000.

Rose and Guns N' Roses returned to performing in 2001 and released the album "Chinese Democracy" in 2008. Rose has also toured with the heavy metal band AC/DC in 2016.

Rose was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, his first year of eligibility.
