Biography: Boitano originally found acclaim for his jumping ability, winning the US National Championship in 1985 and 1986, and the World Championship in 1986.

He made a concerted effort to improve his artistic presentation in 1987, and successfully defended his national title for two more years, while winning the world title as well as Olympic Gold in 1988.

In 1996 he was inducted into both the World Figure Skating and the United States Figure Skating Halls of Fame.
