Biography: Claire Danes is an American actress best known her award-winning performances in My So-Called Life and Homeland. She has won several Emmy and Golden Globe Awards, as well as being involved in theater and various charitable efforts.

Claire Danes began studying dance at six and acting at ten. At age 13, she landed her first major role in the sitcom pilot Dudley. Her breakthrough came in 1994 with the critically acclaimed TV series My So-Called Life, which won her a Golden Globe and an Emmy nomination. Danes attended performing arts schools and later studied at Yale University before dedicating herself entirely to her acting career.

After making her film debut in Little Women (1994), Danes rose to fame with Romeo + Juliet (1996). She then appeared in The Rainmaker (1997), The Hours (2002), Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), and Stardust (2007).

In 2010, she portrayed Temple Grandin in the HBO film Temple Grandin, winning both an Emmy and a Golden Globe. Danes continued her television success with the role of Carrie Mathison in Homeland (2011-2020), alongside Damian Lewis, for which she won two Emmys and two Golden Globes.

Danes made her Broadway debut in Pygmalion (2007), and has also acted in various off-Broadway productions. She was named one of Time’s 100 most influential people in 2012 and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2015.

Danes is married to actor Hugh Dancy, with whom she has three children.
