Biography: David Niven was a popular British actor with a long career in film and television who appeared in nearly 100 films. Some of his most memorable roles include "The Moon Is Blue" (1953), "Around the World in 80 Days" (1956), "The Guns of Navarone" (1961) and "The Pink Panther" (1963).
Niven won an Academy Award for Best Actor for the role of Major Pollock in "Separate Tables" (1958).
In later life Niven was a successful author publishing his autobiography "The Moon's a Balloon" in 1971.
