Biography: Earl Anthony was an American professional bowler who took 43 Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) titles and was the first bowler to earn over $100,000 in a single season. His career highlights included ten major titles, membership in multiple Halls of Fame, and earning the title of "Bowler of the Millennium."

Before pursuing bowling, Anthony was involved in baseball and golf. He played as a minor league pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles organization and was a proficient golfer. His transition to bowling began with a company league where he started with a 165 average. He served in the United States Air Force before dedicating himself to professional bowling, joining the PBA in 1970 at the age of 31.

Anthony won his first PBA title at the Heidelberg Open in Seattle, Washington, and displayed remarkable consistency throughout his career with notable achievements like setting the record for consecutive seasons with at least one PBA title, which stood at 15.

Known as "Square Earl," Anthony was respected for his controlled speed and reliability in bowling. Despite suffering a heart attack in 1978, he made a quick return to the sport. He later went on to join the PBA Senior Tour in 1988, where he secured an additional seven titles.

Over his career he took six BWAA Bowler of the Year awards, twelve First Team All-American honors, and the George Young High Average award, which he won five times. His legacy is maintained through a scholarship fund and tournament named after him, as well as the "Earl Anthony 43" oil pattern used in the PBA World Championship.
