Biography: James Comey is an American lawyer and public official, best known as the 7th director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He served in this post until he was dismissed by President Donald Trump in 2017.
Comey served as a district attorney from 2002 to 2003, then as the United States deputy attorney general from 2003 to 2005. Subsequently he spent several years in corporate work, first at Lockheed Martin and then Bridgewater Associates. He also spent a period working in academia at Columbia Law School.
He was eventually appointed director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation by President Barack Obama in 2013. During his tenure as director he oversaw the controversy concerning Hillary Clinton's private email servers, particularly in relation to the 2016 presidential election.
