Biography: Juan Martín del Potro is an Argentine tennis player best known for winning the US Open in 2009, disrupting the dominance of the Big Four—Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray. His career has been a blend of high successes, including Olympic medals, and challenges, most notably recurrent injuries.

Del Potro started playing tennis at seven, guided by coach Marcelo Gómez. He later claimed the Orange Bowl 14s title and reached the number 3 spot in junior rankings. His progression into professional tennis began in 2005, quickly earning ATP titles.

His most significant career triumph came in 2009, securing the US Open and defeating both Nadal and Federer. After his Grand Slam victory, he peaked at a world No. 4 ranking but soon encountered a wrist injury that derailed his progress.

Del Potro rebounded by 2011, however, reaching a Davis Cup final and following up with an Olympic bronze in 2012 and a silver in 2016, as well as helping Argentina claim its first Davis Cup that year.

The height of his resurgence saw Del Potro capture the Indian Wells Masters title in 2018, reaching his career-best world No. 3 ranking. Nevertheless, his career faced persistent interruptions due to wrist and knee injuries, and in 2022, he hinted at retirement due to ongoing knee complications.
