Biography: Julia Michaels is an American singer and songwriter who first gained recognition as a songwriter working with popular artists and transitioned to a solo career that has earned her Grammy nominations in her own right.

Michaels began her career by singing at age 12 and writing songs at age 16. She entered the music industry by writing the theme song for the Disney show Austin & Ally at age 17.

Later, alongside songwriting partners like Joleen Belle and Justin Tranter, Michaels penned hits for artists such as Demi Lovato and Fifth Harmony. She co-wrote chart-topping songs like "Sorry" for Justin Bieber, for instance, and "Lose You to Love Me" for Selena Gomez.

In 2016, Michaels signed with Republic Records and subsequently released her debut single "Issues" in 2017, achieving commercial success. The single went quintuple-platinum and peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

She released her debut EP, Nervous System (2017), and her first studio album, Not in Chronological Order (2021). Michaels has been featured in songs like "If the World Was Ending" with JP Saxe, who she later dated, and contributed to the soundtrack of the animated feature, Wish (2023).
