Biography: With the help of Sir Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouting Movement, she founded the Girl Scouts of the USA. The group began as the Girl Guides in Scotland in 1911, before she returned to the United States and formed a Girl Guide troop in Savannah, Georgia in 1912.

In 1915, the Girl Guides in the USA became Girl Scouts and she became the first president.
