Biography: Marine Le Pen is a prominent figure in the French far-right political movement. She is best known for her leadership of the National Rally party and her multiple campaigns for the French presidency.

Throughout her career, Le Pen has advocated for nationalist and protectionist policies, including stricter immigration controls and opposition to globalization.

Le Pen came from a political family and started out for herself by joining the National Front in 1986 at the age of 18. She went on to work as a lawyer specializing in criminal law from 1992 to 1998 before being elected as a regional councillor in 1998.

In 2011, Le Pen became the president of the National Front, taking over from her father, Jean-Marie Le Pen, who founded the party. She led efforts to rebrand the party and distance it from its extremist past, renaming it the National Rally in 2018.

Le Pen has run for the French presidency three times, in 2012, 2017, and 2022. In both 2017 and 2022, she advanced to the second round of the election but ultimately lost to Emmanuel Macron.

Despite her electoral defeats, Le Pen has remained a significant force in French politics. She was elected as a member of the National Assembly in 2017 and continues to serve as the leader of the National Rally in parliament.

Her influence on French politics has been recognized internationally, with Time magazine naming her one of the world's most influential people in 2011 and 2015.
