Biography: Carl Reiner was the creator of the US television show "The Dick Van Dyke Show" which ran from 1961 to 1966. The show won 15 Emmys, including 6 for Carl Reiner for writing and producing the show. The series drew on his experiences as writer for Sid Caesar's sketch comedy programs "Your Show of Shows" and "Caesar's Hour".

Along with Mel Brooks, another of Caesar's writers, he developed the "2,000 Year Old Man" act with Reiner interviewing Brooks. The pair appeared on various TV shows, produced 5 albums (winning a Grammy), an animated TV special, and a book.

Reiner went on to play a significant part in Steve Marin's career, writing and directing four of his early films including "The Jerk" (1979) and "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" (1982).

Reiner was also part of Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's Trilogy appearing as Saul Bloom.

Reiner is the father of actor and director Rob Reiner (When Harry Met Sally).
