Biography: Clint Eastwood is an American actor, filmmaker, and political figure. He rose to prominence in the 1960s with the television show Rawhide and then as the 'Man with No Name' in Sergio Leone's 'Dollars Trilogy' of spaghetti Westerns during the 1960s. These early roles established Eastwood's on-screen persona as a rugged, stoic, and tough antihero.

After his Westerns, Eastwood starred in Dirty Harry (1971), which was a box office success and led to four sequels over the next 16 years. His character, Inspector Harry Callahan, became an enduring cinematic icon of the 1970s and 1980s.

Meanwhile, Eastwood began directing, making his debut with Play Misty for Me (1971). His directorial work has been praised, culminating in Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture for Unforgiven (1992) and Million Dollar Baby (2004).

Eastwood's other notable films include The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976), Escape from Alcatraz (1979), Unforgiven (1992), Mystic River (2003), Million Dollar Baby (2004), Gran Torino (2008), and American Sniper (2014).

Outside of film, Eastwood has also been involved in politics. He served as the mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, from 1986 to 1988.
