Biography: James Garner was an American actor known for his roles in television series such as Maverick (1957–60) and The Rockford Files (1974–80). He had a long and successful career, working alongside names such as Steve McQueen, Julie Andrews, Doris Day, and Bruce Lee.

Garner appeared in numerous films throughout his career, including: "The Great Escape" (1963); "The Americanization of Emily" (1964); "Murphy's Romance" (1985), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor; "My Fellow Americans" (1996); and "The Notebook" (2004).

In addition to his film work, Garner starred in a number of television movies and miniseries, such as the popular Hallmark Hall of Fame production of "My Name is Bill W." (1989) and the critically acclaimed miniseries "Space" (1985). Between 1994 and 1999, eight telemovies revived his popular Jim Rockford character.
