Biography: Javier Bardem is a Spanish actor whose role as Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men (2007) earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, making him the first Spaniard to win in this category. Bardem's career spans diverse roles, including his portrayal of a Cuban poet in Before Night Falls (2000) and a Bond villain in Skyfall (2012).

After starting his film career at a young age due to his family's involvement in Spanish cinema, Bardem initially focused on painting but shifted to acting to support himself. He first gained recognition in films like Jamón jamón (1992) and by the late 1990s, he was a recognized actor in Spanish cinema. He declined early opportunities in English-language films because of language barriers.

Bardem's international breakthrough came with the film Before Night Falls (2000), earning him his first Academy Award nomination and commendation from actor Al Pacino. In 2007, he won an Academy Award for his role in No Country for Old Men (2007), and his performance has been critically acclaimed as one of the most iconic psychopathic characters ever portrayed on screen.
