Biography: Jean Cocteau had a wide-ranging career as an avant garde poet, critic, filmmaker, librettist and painter. He is associated with the early twentieth century movements of Dada and Surrealism. He is most remembered for his play "Orphée" (1926) and the novels "Les Enfants terribles" (1929) and "La Machine infernale" (1934).
