Biography: Karen Gillan is a Scottish actress, director, and screenwriter. She is best known for her roles as Amy Pond in the BBC series Doctor Who (2010–2013), Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Ruby Roundhouse in the Jumanji franchise (2017–present).

Gillan began her acting career in 2007 as a guest star in the British comedy sketch show The Kevin Bishop Show. She then went on to appear in several television programs. In 2010, she was cast as the companion of the Eleventh Doctor in the BBC series Doctor Who.

Gillan has also directed and written several short films. In 2018, she made her directorial debut with The Party's Just Beginning, for which she received a nomination for the Best British Feature Film at the British Independent Film Awards.
