Biography: Del Rey's music has been noted by critics and fans for its cinematic quality, with references to 1950s and 1960s Americana and pop culture prevalent throughout lyrics about romance, glamour and melancholy. Her breakthrough success began in 2011 when her song "Video Games" became a viral hit.

In 2012 she released her major label debut album Born to Die and had a major international hit with the song "Summertime Sadness". Moving into film shortly afterward, she wrote the theme song for The Great Gatsby (2013) starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed her own short film.

In recent years she has released several highly rated albums, including Lust for Life (2017) which was nominated for Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album.
