Biography: Lance Gibbs was an outstanding spin bowler representing the West Indian cricket team over a period of 18 years.

In 79 Test matches Gibbs captured 309 wickets at a handy average of 29.09. He took 5 wickets in an innings on 18 occasions, and 10 wickets in match twice.

His best effort came in the 1961–62 home series against India with a devastating 8/38 in the 3rd Test at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Gibbs is only the second player (after Fred Trueman) to pass 300 Test wickets, and the first spinner to achieve the milestone. He had an exceptional economy rate of under 2 runs per over.

He is the oldest player to reach 300 Test wickets, doing so at the age of 41 in 1975/76. Gibbs was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2009.
