Biography: Born Anthony Robert McMillan, Robbie Coltrane took the stage name Coltrane in tribute to the jazz legend John Coltrone.
Coltrane rose to prominence in the 1990s TV drama "Cracker" playing the psychologist Dr. Edward "Fitz" Fitzgerald, for which he won 3 British Bafta awards.
Colbrane is also well known for his portrayal of Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter movie franchise 2001-2011, based on the books by J. K. Rowling.
Coltrane has also appeared in two James Bond films "GoldenEye" and "The World is not Enough" opposite Pierce Brosnan as ex-KGB agent Valentin Dmitrovich Zukovsky.
