As Attorney General, Kennedy worked closely with civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. to advance the cause of racial equality. He also led a vigorous campaign against organized crime, targeting several influential mafia figures.

Following President John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963, Robert Kennedy continued to serve as Attorney General under President Lyndon B. Johnson. In 1964, he resigned to run for the U.S. Senate, winning the election and representing New York.
