Biography: H. R. Haldemen served 18 months in prison after been convicted on charges of perjury, conspiracy and obstruction of justice for trying to cover up Richard Nixon's administrations' involvement in the Watergate scandal.
Haldeman himself protested that his knowledge of the cover-up was nothing compared to those such as Charles W. Colson his friend John D. Ehrlichman.
Haldeman, with a back ground in advertising was known for his brash uncompromising style. He first worked for Richard Nixon in 1956 on President Dwight D. Eisenhower's re-election campaign and then again in 1960 against John F. Kennedy. He became Nixon's Chief of Staff at the White House on Nixon's election to the presidency in 1968.
