Biography: John Ellis "Jeb" Bush is an American politician and businessman who served as the 43rd Governor of Florida from 1999 to 2007. A member of the Republican Party and the Bush family, he is the second son of former President George H. W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush, and a younger brother of former President George W. Bush.

Born in Texas, Jeb Bush grew up in a politically active family. He attended the University of Texas, where he earned a degree in Latin American affairs. After graduation, Bush embarked on a career in banking and real estate development in Florida.

Bush entered politics in 1987 when he was appointed as Florida's Secretary of Commerce. He resigned from the position in 1988 to work on his father's presidential campaign. In 1994, he made his first run for governor but was narrowly defeated. He ran again in 1998 and won, becoming Florida's first two-term Republican governor.

As governor, Jeb Bush focused on education reform, including the creation of a new school grading system and the promotion of school choice through vouchers and charter schools. He also pushed for tax cuts, environmental conservation efforts, and changes to the state's social service system. His tenure saw significant economic growth for Florida, though it was also marked by controversies, including the handling of the 2000 presidential election recount in Florida and issues related to the state's child welfare system.

After his tenure as governor, Bush returned to the private sector but remained involved in various educational and political initiatives. He made a bid for the Republican nomination in the 2016 presidential election, positioning himself as a moderate conservative alternative to the more populist candidates. He struggled to gain traction, however, and eventually suspended his campaign, instead endorsing Senator Ted Cruz.
