Biography: Explosive drummer for the British rock group "The Who" from 1964-78, Moon's penchant for drugs, alcohol, and detonations earned him a reputation as a horrible hotel guest. His drug experimentation sometimes led to his passing out during shows.

Outside of "The Who", Moon released one solo album ("Two Sides of the Moon" -1975), on which he rarely played drums, choosing instead to highlight his unique vocal styling. He occasionally acted in small film roles.

He was the godfather and drum teacher to Ringo Starr's son Zak Starkey. Zak has become the current drummer of choice for The Who.

His death, at age 32, was attributed to an overdose of the drug Heminevrin, intended to ease alcohol withdrawal.
