Biography: Natalie Cole was the daughter of jazz and pop singer Nat King Cole. Her first recording was on her Father's Christmas album aged 6.

Cole's rise to her own fame came with her R&B debut album "Inseparable" in 1975, for which she won 2 Grammys, including becoming the first African American to win Best New Artist.

In the 1980s Cole's musical style became more contemporary and her hits include the dance-pop cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac".

Cole later returned to form and huge success with her 1991 album "Unforgettable...with Love", covering her father's standards. The album won 3 Grammys including Album of the Year.

Cole's personal life was marked by drug addiction, for which she eventually sort treatment and chronicled in her autobiography and a TV movie "Livin' for Love: The Natalie Cole Story". Cole's drug use led eventually to ill health, she suffered from Hepatitis C and had a kidney transplant before dying of heart failure at 65.
