Biography: Nicknamed "The Boss", Springsteen is an iconic fixture of American music. His style concentrates on his distinctive voice and lyrics often concerning working class Americans. His tours, often with the E Street Band, are noted for their energetic performances and often long length.

His commercial sales, with famous albums such as Born to Run (1975), Born in the USA (1984), and The Rising (2002) have reached over 135 million sold.

Between 1985 and 2010, he won 20 Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, 4 MTV Music Video Awards, and 2 Golden Globe Awards.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999, his first year of eligibility.

In 2016 he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama.

In October, 2017 "Springsteen On Broadway" - a one man show of songs and stories, based on his memoir - opened; planned for an 8 week run, it was extended by popular demand three times, running through June of 2018, garnering him a Tony Award. A special encore run in the summer of 2021 re-opened Broadway after the pandemic closure.
